Here’s what’s going on with PS4 firmware 1.60

The new PS4 firmware 1.60 is here! New firmware is here! Don’t you love it when a system is all shiny and new, and firmware updates aren’t a chore because each one could have some shiny and new feature? They aren’t like PS3 or Xbox 360 firmware updates, which are most decidedly boring and tedious now FIFA 14 Coins. New console firmware updates are special.

Unfortunately, PS4 firmware 1.60 is a bit of a letdown. While it is shiny and new, it doesn’t really add many new features. Yes, it does offer support to the Pulse wireless headsets and the forthcoming Gold Wireless headset, but that’s not really earthshattering. And sure, it’s better at playing DVDs after the updates, but who really watches DVDs on their PS4? I guess the ability to mute the PlayStation Camera is helpful… for the people who actually have PlayStation Cameras.

No, PS4 firmware 1.60 is decidedly unglamorous. It’s full of minor bug fixes and stability enhancing features. Sure, these kinds of updates are necessary, but it’s always a letdown when a new console’s firmware update doesn’t do anything big.

Especially since the PS4 firmware 1.60 does not offer any fixes for the CE-34878-0 error. If you haven’t gotten this message yet, you’re one of the lucky ones. The CE-34878-0 error is one that corrupts save files for certain games. If it happens, you lose all of your progress. One PlayStation forum member named Kadmar suggests that the save issue bugs in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14, NBA 2K14 are caused by developer error. Since some of the bugs have already been patched and fixed, this seems likely and you may want to wait to resume playing FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, COD: Ghosts and Tomb Raider until they get their patches.

If you have the console, go update to PS4 firmware 1.60. Get it done now, so you can be ready tonight when the PlayStation Store updates. Outlast is going to be free if you have PlayStation Plus, Buy FIFA 14 Coins and you don’t want to miss that.
