Cities vying for 2020 Games try to avoid IOC axe
The race to host the 2020 Summer Olympics reaches the first hurdle on Wednesday with five cities trying to avoid being dropped from the bidding FIFA 14 PS4 Coins marathon by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Istanbul, Madrid, Tokyo, Doha and Azerbaijan’s Baku will try to convince an evaluation committee they are ready to stage the world’s biggest sporting spectacle and remain in the high stakes runoff that will not conclude until September 2013 when the IOC will vote on a host in Buenos Aires.
Trimming the bids will be at the top of a busy three-day agenda for the IOC but the executive board is also expected to deal with several thorny issues, including Saudi Arabia’s hesitation to send female athletes to the London Olympics.
The possible inclusion of South Sudan and Kosovo as Olympic members, an update on a revenue-sharing agreement with the United States Olympic Committee and what to do with the 2004 gold medal stripped from American cyclist Tyler Hamilton after a positive dope test are all issues likely to be raised.
The IOC executive board can also expect to face tough questions over its decision not to honor the 40th anniversary of Israeli athletes killed in attacks at the 1972 Munich Olympics with a moment of silence at the London Games.
The spotlight, however, will be focused on the culling of candidates for the 2020 Summer Games.
With the global economy in upheaval, selecting a 2020 host represents a tricky decision for the IOC as it looks ahead eight years and ponders a fuzzy financial picture.
While Tokyo and Istanbul are the clear front-runners, each of the five bids has questions hanging over their ability to stage a Games.
All five cities have bid before but Istanbul, bidding for a fifth time, could finally be rewarded for its perseverance.
Bridging two continents, Istanbul is considered by many as an attractive choice but Turkey’s pursuit of soccer’s 2020 European championships is proving a distraction.
“We will see tomorrow if we make the cut but we are very positive,” Hasan Arat, leader of the Istanbul delegation told reporters on Tuesday. “We have learned a lot from the previous bids.
“For Turkey, hosting the Games has always been the ultimate prize. Always our priority has been the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and nothing has changed.”
Tokyo, still recovering from last year’s deadly earthquake and tsunami, is also almost certain to advance to the next round but will need to interest voters in staging consecutive Olympics in Asia with Pyeongchang set to stage 2018 Winter Games.
Oil-rich Doha has the financial muscle to host the 2020 Olympics but the tiny Gulf nation of Qatar has plenty of work ahead if it wants to add the Summer Games to a trophy case that already includes the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Convincing the IOC to stage a Summer Games in October to avoid searing heat is problematic as is the issue of women’s rights in many Arabic nations.
Even with Spain’s economy in full meltdown mode, Madrid has pushed on with its bid for the 2020 Games as organizers say an Olympics will help in the country’s economic recovery, but the IOC is sure to be wary of any financial risks.
Cash is not an issue for, Baku but the Azerbaijan capital is still viewed as the rank outsider FIFA 14 Ultimate Team PS4 Coins that lacks infrastructure and Olympic quality venues.

FIFA sets 2014 World Cup ticket prices in Brazil
Ticket prices for next year’s World Cup will range from $990 to as little as $15 for some FIFA Coins Brazilians eligible for discount rates.
The prices were announced Friday by football’s world governing body FIFA. The $15 tickets will be available to Brazilian students, Brazilians over 60 and members of some social programs. In 2010, some South Africans could pay as little as $20.
Host nation residents will have access to at least 400,000 discounted tickets from the publicly available total of about 3 million.
“Those prices are extremely competitive,” Thierry Weil, FIFA’s marketing director, said in explaining the prices. “So you have a huge range, for sure. I hope that FIFA ... has been reasonable when it comes to prices.”
FIFA said prices for international fans start at $220 for the opening match in Sao Paulo on June 12. Top category seats will cost $495 for the opener.
At the other 47 group-stage matches, seats costs $90 in the cheapest Category 3 band. Category 1 tickets will cost $175.
For the championship game on July 13 at Rio’s Maracana, international fans must pay from $440 to $990, in three category bands.
On average, prices for international fans are about 10 percent more than four years ago in South Africa, meaning these fans may be picking up the bill for discounts to certain Brazilians.
The concessions to Brazilians were stipulated in a so-called World Cup bill approved last year by the Brazilian Congress. Portions of the bill - parts that grant FIFA certain tax concessions - have been called unconstitutional and are being appealed to the country’s supreme court.
“The ticketing strategy shows important achievements that Brazil has obtained, which were included in the World Cup law,” Deputy Sports Minister Luis Fernandes said at the ticket announcement.
Despite the discounts, the prices are out of reach for most people in Brazil, where the average official minimum monthly salary is about $340.
At Maracana stadium, a study shows prices of the least expensive seats at recent matches have typically increased 30 times in the last eight years.
Brazil will spend about $14 billion on next year’s World Cup. The price tag was a focus of violent street protests that took place during the Confederation Cup last month, the warm-up for the World Cup.
The protests have continued with complaints about poor schools, hospitals and public services contrasted with the lavish spending on the World Cup - and an equal amount on the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Protests are also expected when Pope arrives Monday for the Catholic church’s youth day.
Weil called on Brazilian authorities to have all 12 World Cup stadiums ready by a Dec. 31 deadline set by FIFA. Four of the six stadiums used for the Confederations Cup were late being delivered, causing ticketing confusion with some fans entering with tickets - only to find no corresponding seats, Weil said.
“We need the stadiums in time for the World Cup to be ready and to be prepared,” he said.
He also said ticket pick-up locations had to be better situated, adding that tickets would be available at the airports in all 12 host cities.
Air travel will be the main way to get around the continent-size country. Many of Brazil’s airports are outdated - notably those in Rio and Sao Paulo - with domestic connections expensive and difficult to make. Hotels will also be pricey, with complaints at the Confederations Cup that few employees speak English.
“For the World Cup, what we need to do is, we need to have ticket centers in the right locations,” Weil said.
Tickets for the World Cup will be sold globally from Aug. 20 on fifa.com. The first sales phase ends Oct. 10, and a random draw will allocate seats for oversubscribed matches.
A second sales phase opens Dec. 8, after the 32-team draw is made and the match schedule confirmed.
FIFA said buyers can request a maximum of four seats per match, and for a maximum of seven matches.
FIFA said an additional 450,000 tickets have been reserved for a corporate client program, which FIFA licensed to MATCH Hospitality for $120 million.
The total number of available tickets will not be finalized cheap fifa 14 coins until the 12 stadiums are completed, FIFA said.

British companies win World Cup stadium contract in Qatar
British engineering company Pascall Watson won a contract to participate in the development and renovation of the Qatar’s Al Rayyan Stadium jointly with Ramboll and Icon, another Britain-based firm buy fifa 14 ultimate team coins FIFA 14 Coins, according to the Qatari daily news website The Peninsula.
The renovations aim to increase the number of seats in the stadium from 22,000 to 40,000, and installation of an advanced air-conditioning system that will keep the temperature at 24 degrees Celsius, sources in the British companies said.
The seats can be removed and reinstalled in accordance with the number of spectators, the source added. Big screens will also be installed around the stadium.
Five stadiums for the World Cup will be under construction by the end of 2014, Hassan Al Thawadi, general secretary and head of the Supreme Committee for FIFA 2022 said.
Qatar had taken various steps for completing work on the stadiums before time, he added.
Al Rayyan arena is the second stadium after Al Wakra Stadium to have FIFA Ultimate Team Coins its design approved.

Breaking Down Easiest Roads to Advance in FIFA Tournament
Whilst some teams will not have stopped complaining about their World Cup draw since it was made in December, others were handed relatively cheap fifa coins easy tasks at the Group Stage.
The groups were drawn based on FIFA World Ranking, and whilst that is an impartial system, there were always going to be some draws tougher than others. Group B, containing Spain, Netherlands and Chile could easily be labelled the Group of Death. Although fans of Uruguay, Italy and England, all in Group D, would probably disagree.
However, some teams seem certainties to stroll through to the Round of 16 as group winners. Here are three that will not be on the wrong end of an upset early on in Brazil.
Brazil
The tournament hosts and favourites do not have any walkovers ahead of them in Group A, but at the same time, they do not have any stern tests in front of them either.
Alongside Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side are Mexico, Cameroon and Croatia. These are all nations that have been beyond the Group Stages in the past, but their current lineups do not look likely to challenge the Brazilians.
Mexico may have triumphed over Brazil at the Olympics in 2012, but the men in yellow and green have improved since then, whilst the Mexicans have stagnated somewhat. Brazil showed their superiority as they swatted Mexico aside 2-0 in last year’s Confederations Cup.
That tournament really demonstrated the Brazilians’ ability as they also beat Japan, Italy, Uruguay and Spain en route to lifting the trophy. It was a warning shot to the rest of the world and showed they are unlikely to be troubled by the teams they meet in Group A.
As for Croatia and Cameroon, neither team are at their peak at the moment. The Africans have been beaten by Gabon and Democratic Republic of Congo in the last year, whilst in a recent friendly against Portugal they were battered 5-1. Croatia were unconvincing in qualification as they lost twice to Scotland and only narrowly came through a playoff against Iceland.
It would result in a huge surprise if Brazil were to drop any points in Group A, never mind fail to qualify.
France
The French were handed a tricky qualification group, which included world champions Spain, but they have redressed the karma by scoring a pretty straightforward looking group at the finals. Seen as they were seeded second for the Group Stages, they could not have asked for much better than Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras; nations which do not have rich World Cup histories.
The Swiss have manoeuvred their way up the FIFA World Rankings to eighth, but they are certainly not the eighth-best team on the planet. Their qualifying campaign included draws with Norway, Iceland and Cyprus. However, they did reach the finals without losing. Whilst they are uninspiring they can be difficult to beat.
Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld agrees that France should top the group, although he hopes to change that scenario, per RMC Radio, h/t Jerome Pugmire for Yahoo Sports.
"We have a mature team now. I can say that it's become 'adult,' it's grown up. We had a superb qualifying campaign, we didn't lose a single game and we've developed a great team spirit.
I hope to beat France so that we can finish first. But beating France will be an enormous surprise because, for me, France remains the group favorite."
Honduras enjoyed an impressive qualification process, which included wins over USA, Costa Rica and Mexico. They can certainly compete at that level, but against the top sides, they are still left well short, as their 5-0 loss to Brazil last November showed.
Ecuador are on a similar level to Honduras these days, as the sides played out a 2-2 draw in November. They picked up some impressive results in qualifying, including a win over Uruguay and a draw with Argentina, but they lack any real star quality and have only advanced beyond the Group Stages once before.
The French are unpredictable at World Cups, but if they are playing anywhere near their best, then they should cruise into the Round of 16 this summer.
Argentina
Argentina have the most feared forward line in the 2014 World Cup, and it should put the trio of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Nigeria and Iran to the sword in Group F. Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel di Maria would scare the life out of the best defences on the planet, and they should rip to shreds those in front of them at the earliest stage in Brazil.
As Glenn Moore writes in The Independent, the Argentinians are used to success on their own continent:
"Argentina won the last two World Cups in South and Central America and are strong candidates to make it a treble across the River Uruguay after tango-ing through qualifying."
To put into context the level of the other teams in Group F, Scotland are ahead of all of them in the current FIFA World Rankings, as are Denmark and Egypt who also failed to make it to Brazil.
Ironically, Argentina took on Bosnia-Herzegovina in a friendly shortly before the World Cup draw was made. Aguero scored twice in a 2-0 win for the Argentines, buy fifa 14 ultimate team coins and that was without the services of Messi, the best player on the planet. The fact that, per Oddschecker.com, Bosnia-Herzegovina are the most likely to beat Argentina of their three opponents, then there is not much hope for any of them.

Brazil Declared the World Cup List
Scolari declared the 23-man list to fight against the World Cup yesterday in Rio de Janeiro. Football star Hernanes from Inlernational Milan was the last one to be chosen into the list buy fifa 14 ultimate team coins. To our surprise, Kaka and Roningdinho were not.
Throughout the Brazil list, there is a sharp contrast between the strength of the defence and the rigidity of the attack. Players from D-line eight all come from the main force of European five leagues clubs.
Scolari said many times there were no surprise or accident for the list. But Enrique was shortlisted surprising us a lot. As the host, Brazil team is the main force in this World Cup to win. In the group games, they will match with Cameroon, Mexico and Croatia. When being a guest of Brazilian television programs, Scolari said he will lead Brazil team to win. In history, Brazil got the World Cup title for five times which is the most times.
Kaka is not listed on the list, which means that 32-year-old Kaka has said goodbye to World Cup stage. Just like Roningdinho, they leave too much regret in their World Cup trip.

2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil review – official souvenir
There's probably no way to make a World Cup FIFA 14 Coins game and not have it seem like a cynical cash-in. Sports sims are one of the few types of games to come close to justifying yearly sequels, but if you're going to have two of them in the one year then just how different can the World Cup one be? As ever the answer is not very, although this does make a reasonable effort nonetheless. Perhaps the only surprising thing about 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is that it's only being released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. There are no Xbox One or PlayStation 4 versions, with EA giving various unlikely-sounding excuses for the fact – such as that host nation Brazil has a very low adoption rate for the new consoles. Given the game is clearly going to be top of the European charts for the whole of the summer we're not sure what that's got to do with anything, but much like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel it shows a surprising reluctance for major publishers to bring proven big sellers onto the new consoles. What you have here is basically FIFA 14 stripped of its club teams and modes and focusing purely on the World Cup. That means it's basically the same game underneath, except now with all 12 official World Cup stadia, 203 national teams, and all the players, managers, official kits, official soundtrack, and official officials that you could wish for. Despite FIFA 14 already having been the most successful in the series the World Cup game is clearly aimed at a more casual style of player, the sort who only occasionally plays video games when there's a special reason to do so (and who will be unaware of the general reputation of these sorts of tie-ins). So there's lots of Brazilian-themed CGI menus and selectable soundtracks but in terms of useful changes to FIFA 14 it’s almost a blank slate (although the new country-specific commentary is great). In terms of unuseful changes both dribbling and passing have been tweaked slightly, further decreasing the speed of the game in what is probably a purposeful side effect. The difference is minor though and will only be noticed by dedicated players, no matter what the back of the box implies. 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil (360) – only the last gen gets to play2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil (360) – only the last gen gets to play There are other similarly minor changes, including new set piece tactics options, over-the-back headers, and – appropriately enough for the English World Cup experience – a new penalty shoot-out system. The new method is actually more simplistic than the original, although having the option to try and put off the other player when you’re the goalie is good for a laugh. But really, these are the sort of changes that most other games would add as a free patch – tweaking options and fixing bugs but never dreaming of charging anyone for it. And yet of course 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil costs £40. And for that price you get a game that will have almost zero relevance as soon as the World Cup ends and the next season kicks in, with all the clever online tie-in content and tournaments suddenly screeching to a halt. Which is of course exactly as EA would have it since they want you to buy FIFA 15 as soon as you're finished with this (look for it in stores this September!). And even before you start there's no Ultimate Team or Pro Club matches. Again it’s understandable given the circumstances but both the online World Cup and the new Road to Rio De Janeiro mode both come with their own in-built expiry dates. There are some interesting offline modes though, including the Captain Your Country career option and the Story of Qualifying, which works like a challenge mode where you try and succeed in a series of real world scenarios playing as a wide variety of different countries. The traditional Road to the World Cup mode also returns, allowing you to work your way through the whole tournament as any country from the qualifiers to the final. It still doesn't amount to much though and at the end of the day this is a much better interactive souvenir than it is a value for money video game. Fans will ask why EA didn't just release the game's content as a downloadable expansion, as they now do for the European Championships (the Euro 2012 one cost £16), but the obvious answer to that is because people are willing to pay £40 for this instead. But it's not as if 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is a complete rip-off, it's just a cut down version of a game that already exists with a few CGI samba dancers gyrating over the menu screen. It doesn't even necessarily feel lazy, given the short amount of time the developers must have had to create it, but like the overly expensive key rings fifa 14 coins online and T-shirts you’re also likely to be buying this summer it's not something that's built to last.
